Testimonial From Fran Ellis, Maine High School All American, D1 Harvard Midfielder, and graduate of MPL and Power Hour Lacrosse:

I began working with Malcolm in my junior year of high school. Prior to working with him, I had absolutely no concept of physical training, weightlifting, or how to prepare for a lacrosse season. I had worked with a few trainers before, and the blind devotion to the bench press and squat had gotten me nowhere. Malcolm introduced a number of progressive techniques that, it was clear, he had tried himself—all of which were far more effective than anything I had done in the past.

By the time I started working with Malcolm, my form and technique was so bad that he literally had to break me down and start from scratch. We focused on the much smaller cogs that need to engage in order for the body to gain the most it can from a workout. He taught me the importance of proper breathing and posture during an exercise, something I still think about constantly to this day. His major emphasis was on engaging one’s core. Not through gut-busting crunches (which do nothing in the way of injury-prevention training), but through smaller, traditional exercises which require balance and focus. It was amazing to me that he could put me through the hardest workouts of my life using only a “bosu board” and a 5-pound medicine ball. And, though, hard, these workouts always left me feeling far more satisfied than any I had ever had.

Malcolm’s techniques are incredible. I attribute the fact that I was never seriously injured in my 8 years of playing high school and college lacrosse almost entirely to him. I carried many of his techniques with me into the medieval lifting techniques we were forced to return to in college (our strength and conditioning coach thought we were the football team). If you buy into his system, you will quickly realize how many parts of the body can actually be used in a workout. He pushed me hard, but they were always the most rewarding workouts I had. He is a fabulous trainer who is constantly trying to improve his craft—something that can’t be said for the majority of trainers who stick to old, outdated techniques. If you want to compete at the highest level, go see Malcolm. He will change your outlook on how to prepare for the game, away from the game. And you’ll have fun doing it!
